Stewart and I thought it was about time to enjoy our retirement and do a tour of B.C.
Started with camping in Vancouver. Only problem - there weren't any campsites anywhere near Vancouver. So we shared this choice spot below Grouse Mountain, next to some dumpsters, with some
racoons.
I guess we weren't much into campsites anyway.
Now this one remains to this day one of my favourite travel experiences.
We headed north from Osoyoos, and then up the side of the valley toward an old mining town. After dark, we ended up on this dirt road, which ended at a rock cliff. In the moonlight we knew we had a good spot, but didn't initially comprehend just how great it was. We set up the speakers beyond the fire and howled at the moon and partied for hours. In the morning we awoke to the sound of cattle on the pasture just down the cliff from our tent. Once our eyes adjusted to the light (which probably took a while), we were amazed by the view and our situation.
April 2003 note
(three months later):
Check
out a taste of the work of the present-day Stewart Boutilier
We're going to get old, man,
(I hope)
but let's not lose our desire for
adventure and our love for fun.
I had
been to this bridge over the Thompson River,
not far from Spences Bridge, not too long before with my Dad,
who took this picture of me.
The morning after Jasper...
The trolls were especially bad that year in B.C.
